“Tomorrow will come and girl, I can’t wait it’s our anniversary”💘, well actually, I believe I can wait just a tad🤏🏾. I’m approaching one year of formalizing myself as a Fractional CFO and business providing financial planning and analysis for microbusinesses, SMEs, and enterprises looking to expand services abroad. Talk about having a go to “what do you do response”, sheesh, man I can’t believe it’s been a year in this new space.

Starting my own company was not the first thing I was planning to do after the layoff upon the closure of USAID, but hey God still got me, got us! Amen to that🙌🏾! It’s a lot, mentally, emotionally, and I wouldn’t say so much physically cause I’m still consistent in the gym💪🏾. However, I can say there’s times of fatigue juggling a startup, landing the next opportunity, bringing on a new client, networking, being a parent, husband, brother, oh yeah, and a professor!😅

“I’ve only made plans to hold your little hand” with new clients, getting them to understand the importance of their financials telling the story for them is attributed to their directing skills, like a movie🎥, what story are you trying to tell yourself or potential lenders/investors💰? I’m also holding hands with my students to produce quality and sound work for the greater good of their experience in the classes I teach. Talk about plans, I wasn’t expecting to be a professor at this time, but it worked out and I’m thankful. It’s been a joy for sure. Who in my network would like to make a special guest appearance?

“Today is a special day” Honestly, I think every day is a special day when I’m able to wake up, open my eyes, movement in my limbs, and breathe in my lungs, man I’m bout to shout on this as I type it. Surely is a special day. When I consider the thought of doing my own thing sparking from my doctoral program (oh how I look forward to getting back into the swing of things), the shift in the job market, and the traction I’ve made within a year’s time,  it’s alright (as my papaw would say).

“Do you know what today is” yeah I’m coming up on an anniversary of being in business, but I’m also coming upon the stacking of getting it wrong, getting it right, getting it wrong, getting it right, that’s part of it I suppose. It’s all good!

If you haven’t caught on by now, this blog was inspired by the legends Tony! Toni! Toné! Anniversary. So a little after the 4:45 mark of the song, it continues on with a smooth jam and sound, let it play out, it gets better, and that’s exactly what I’m doing. Shout out to my wife, her fine self😂!!!
